Our Manifesto
Each attorney at Akinc Law views this practice as more than just a job.
We truly care for our clients and build relationships that extend over decades and to multiple generations of a family.
During difficult periods of time, we provide support and serve as an advocate, so you have time to grieve and handle personal matters.
We offer insight and experiences so you can make informed decisions and feel confident in your planning.
Acknowledging the constant evolution of tax laws and exemptions, our practice includes continual review of court cases and tax regulations as well as building flexibility into your planning.
By identifying potential risks and options, we advise clients acting as executors and trustees to minimize the risk to themselves while also fulfilling legal responsibilities and fiduciary duties to beneficiaries.
The value received from working with any attorney at Akinc Law goes beyond signed documents. We are your attorneys, legal counselors, and advocates.
Services We Offer
-
Planning for Incapacity and Death
Estate planning is more than transferring property at a specific date in time. It is a process through which you should make thoughtful decisions to care for yourself and others in the event of incapacity or death and then develop a workable plan to carry out those decisions.
We work with clients to structure, draft, and execute an estate plan that is understandable and tailored to each client’s objectives in a tax-efficient and seamless manner.
Lifetime Wealth Transfer
For those who are interested in lifetime wealth transfer, Akinc Law assists in helping clients identify, understand, and maximize opportunities in a tax-efficient manner. Among other techniques, this may include the creation of irrevocable trusts (for asset protection or tax planning purposes), intrafamily loans, or closely held entities.
Lifetime wealth planning can be an educational opportunity for younger generations, something that can be critical for preserving wealth across multiple generations. Akinc Law works with families and other advisors to facilitate the learning process.
Business Succession Planning
If clients own interests in closely held entities, we integrate business succession planning in the overall estate plan and work with advisors to incorporate buy-sell agreements, keyman insurance policies, and other succession tools.
Philanthropic Planning
Many clients have charitable inclinations. These may include fulfilling specific lifetime pledges or creating a structure through which multiple generations of descendants are encouraged to give back to their community. Akinc Law can advise and assist in structuring plans to accomplish each client’s charitable objectives in a manner that maximizes the benefits both to the client and charity.

After the death of a loved one, Akinc Law advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries, helping them navigate the legal aspects of probate and estate administration.
Although it is a process, Texas probate is not anything to be feared. We regularly represent executors and administrators in court and prepare documentation to distribute assets in accordance with an estate plan, or if an individual dies without a will, under Texas laws of intestacy.
Akinc Law also handles the preparation and filing of U.S. Estate (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Returns (Forms 706) for high net worth estates.
-
We work with trustees to understand the specific terms of the trusts under administration and their fiduciary duties and obligations to trust beneficiaries. This includes, but is not limited to:
Understanding distribution terms
Facilitating communication with beneficiaries
Advising regarding proper record-keeping and accounting
Providing guidance to minimize risk liability
Akinc Law also works with estate and trust beneficiaries to explain and advise on matters regarding their rights and options.
How we work
Our process begins and ends with you.
No two clients have the exact same objectives, family dynamics, and assets; we need to get to know you, so we can jointly work through the nuances and logistics of planning. Although each matter is different, our progress is largely the same.
Discovery
We get to know you and your family, what assets you own, and your objectives and concerns.
01
Planning
Based on discovery, we work to put together a structure that will smoothly and effectively meet your objectives.
02
Understanding
In addition to legal documents, we share flow charts, explanatory overviews, and carefully review planning to make certain that clients understand how their planning works.
03
Carry Through
Once documents are signed, we advise clients and advisors to make certain that trusts are funded, beneficiary designations are updated, and other practical aspects of estate planning are considered.
