Katherine (Kat) handles a range of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. She works with clients to develop personalized and tax-efficient estate plans, including wills, revocable trusts, and incapacity documents.

Kat also advises on and helps implement business succession and sophisticated lifetime wealth transfer techniques. In addition to planning, Kat represents executors, trustees and beneficiaries in probate, estate and trust administration matters, including the preparation and filing of federal gift tax and federal estate tax returns.

Kat is board certified in Estate Planning & Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel. She was recognized by Thompson Reuters as a Texas Rising Star from 2016-2018 and then recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer in every subsequent year through present. Kat is also a regular speaker at Texas State Bar conferences and other events. She earned her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Rice University.

At some point Kat intends to slow down, but these days she is constantly running – chasing after her two young sons, attempting to read and/or listen to the entirety of the Austin Public Library, running at the gym, or just working off the excessive amounts of caffeine she consumes. She can also consume a disturbing number of mandarin oranges at once.

Alvin J. Golden

Al Golden’s practice is devoted entirely to estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He is board certified by Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Estate Planning and Probate Law, a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is also a recovering certified public accountant.

Al was presented the Outstanding Probate and Trust Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 by the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is a distinguished national speaker and instructor in trust and estate issues, with a special focus on retirement benefits planning, which he taught at the University of Miami Law School LLM Program in Estate Planning.

Al earned a B.B.A. (1962—Accounting) and a LL.B (1965; the current equivalent of a J.D.), both from the University of Texas. He has received every meaningful honor a lawyer can earn — Who’s Who in American Law, Best Lawyers in America (by BL Rankings), Super Lawyers (by Thompson Reuters), among others.

In his spare hours, Al spends considerable time keeping his wife of 58 years happy (by spending more days at the office). And in addition to the useful litany of skills that Al possesses, he can also remember all the words to “Heartbreak Hotel” by Elvis Presley. Just ask him to prove it.
